Telecare for Falls - Fall Detection

Fall prevention and detection

The chance of falling increases as we get older, and sadly, falls are the main cause of fatal injuries among older people. Even non-fatal falls can have far-reaching consequences, by reducing confidence and increasing dependency. For instance, when recovering from a broken hip, many people will need assistance with activities of daily living, more than a year after the fracture.

Automatic fall detection - 24 hours a day

Automatic fall detection systems send an alert for help when someone has a trip, slip or fall. They can help to give back confidence, to anyone who fallen and might otherwise be reluctant to continue with daily tasks. Fall detectors can therefore increase the chances of a person retaining their independence. With a fall detector, a person will not be left alone, and can get help quickly. Knowing that someone has been alerted relieves anxiety, and increases the chances of a faster recovery.
