TASK Limited operates in four main areas; telecare, security systems, location tracking, and business monitoring. Founded as 'TASK Alarms' in 1974 by Gerard Bunting, today over 30 years on he continues to provide strategic direction and leadership as Managing Director.
TASK was initially formed as a security company before expanding into the Community Care and Healthcare sectors. This transition took place in the late 1970’s when we provided innovative technological solutions for nurses, managers and patients, including initiatives with the National Rehabilitation Board.
As pioneers of remote communication devices, now known as ‘telecare’ our first Audible Warning Units were manufactured in-house in 1978. When activated, these units transmitted an alert to a neighbour or carer in a nearby location. TASK gained CE approval for these devices and continue to supply them today.
In 1987 we manufactured our first digital communicator, enabling alerts to be transmitted and received between distant locations. A year later we partnered with the Occupational Therapy (OT) department of Dublin City Hospital to pilot the devices. In this context the purpose was to transmit the alert to a nurse’s station when an alarm button was triggered by the patient.
In 1991, Dublin City Council in conjunction with the Health Board provided funding for the provision of telecare units to vulnerable members of the community. The scheme was launched by the Department of Health. The monitoring of these alarms was initially carried out by Dublin Fire Authority before being transferred to TASK Community Care later that same year.
Since those early days we have continued to go from strength to strength. We now provide security, telecare and 24/7 monitoring for tens of thousands of people, and continue to offering innovative, flexible and reliable solutions to many satisfied clients.
